All Wild One Jewellery is either Sterling Silver, 18 Carat Gold Vermeil plated on Sterling Silver or 9ct Gold. To keep your Wild One Jewellery looking it's best we advise you follow the care instructions below:
When not being worn, we recommend that you store your jewellery pouch provided with your product or in the box that your jewellery came in. Ensure necklaces and bracelets are fastened to minimise risk of tangling or scratching. Remove your jewellery before showering, bathing and always before swimming in chlorinated water or the sea. There have been reports in the industry of Hand Sanitser also tainting Jewellery, so please ensure you clean your rings at the end of the day. We advise keeping your jewellery out of direct sunlight & avoiding exposure to humidity and extreme conditions. Minimise contact with water, body lotions, fake tan, perfumes, sun lotions and cleaning products as these may lead to tarnishing over time
How to clean your jewellery
Precious Metals
To keep your jewellery sparkling, we advise using the jewellery polishing cloth you received with your order to gently rub your jewellery and remove any build up of dirt.
Gemstones
Gemstones are delicate, exposure to hot water, chemicals & direct sunlight should be avoided. We advise using a soft, damp cloth to clean your gemstones after wearing.
Gold Vermeil
Please keep in mind how fast Gold Vermeil wears will ultimately depend on you and your lifestyle, so do what you can to get the most out of your Gold Plating by following the points in our Care Guide above.
We want our Jewellery to last a lifetime, so when your Wild One pieces need re-plating please just get in touch by emailing hello@wildonejewellery.co.uk and we can send it to our platers at cost price.
Tarnish
What exactly is Tarnish? How does it Occur? How can I remove it?
'Tarnish is what happens when an object has become discoloured & lost its luster. Tarnish is known as a coating on the outside of a metal surface.Tarnshing occurs on Jewellery when the metal comes into contact with certain substances, such as body oils, sulphur, sweat, make up and other cosmetics. Cosmetics often contain chemical compounds (ie Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Calamine and Ferric Oxide), which are harder than the metal within the Jewellery. Please remember to remove your Jewellery when applying cosmetics, make sure your skin is dry before you put on your Jewellery. Just like you need to clean up after a long day, so does your Jewellery!
The Precious Metals used in our designs are 9ct Gold & 925 Sterling Silver, both metals are far too soft to actually form into Jewellery, therefore must be alloyed with other base metals ie Copper, to make it harder and suitable for everyday use. If your jewellery appears to be corroding this will be the base metal, not the Gold or Sterling Silver. Corrosion occurs when there is moisture, this may be from bathing or even perspiration, please follow our Care Guide to ensure you get the best from your Jewellery.
How to prevent tarnish
Sterling Silver will naturally oxidise over time and tarnish. By storing your Sterling Silver products in an airtight box or bag it should minimise this oxidisation process. To remove tarnish, gently scrub your jewellery with a soft toothbrush in diluted soapy water. Dry thoroughly then buff with your complementary polishing cloth.
Allergies
If you are prone to Dermatitis & Allergies when wear Jewellery please contact us as we may be able to source alternative metals for our designs. Often allergies occur when the wearers skin is sensitive to base metals ie Copper which is alloyed with Sterling Silver & 9ct Gold. We would suggest using a purer form of Precious Metal ie 999 Pure Silver or 24ct Gold.
