We hosted our first ever workshop last night and WOW we had the best time!
Sending the biggest thank you to everyone who came along, you guys are awesome - you all made such beautiful bangles, we hope you will treasure them forever.
The Oaks in Whisby hosted the event, with bottles of Prosecco popping from the minute guests began to arrive. Each table was set with its own stamping station; measuring tools, jewellers bench blocks, hammers, letter stamps, practise metals & polishing tools.
Once everyone had settled in & we had chance to chat about design ideas it was time for me demonstrate, we focused on 3 different techniques:
- Texturising (fairly simple, but beautiful & timeless result, no two designs will ever be the same)
- Design Stamping (a more planning required, but lovely & personal finish)
- Letter Stamping (much more difficult, needs accurate measurements & practise but the outcome is a very personal, bespoke piece)
After watching my demonstration everyone had the chance to practise adding textures to their pieces of copper to get a feel for the tools and the techniques. It was then time to begin learning about measuring the metal & the stamps and plotting where we would be stamping the design / letter stamps.
Each table had 121 time with me to chat through their ideas, I helped the first person from each group to set up their 925 Eco Silver Bangle Blank, their work station and guided them through the steps of stamping their first few stamps. Jamie & James served the most delicious stone-baked pizzas whilst everyone took their turn at creating their own personalised cuff bangles.
Once the design was complete we talked through the process of shaping the cuffs, some people worked with shaping pliers, others with a bangle forming tool and I finished them on my mandrel. Once the bangles were shaped perfectly it was time to give them their final polish with the extra fine polishing papers.
Everyone finished the class with beautifully sparkling personalised bangles!
